New Year Predictions

Did everybody eat their black-eyed peas, collard greens, cornbread, and pork on New Year’s Day? I can’t say that I did. I spent the day with my mother catching up on household issues and cooking. Lots of it! The holiday interruptions put us behind. I didn’t think about cooking up a pot of black-eyed peas but hey, we ate a ham sandwich for lunch.

A friend that I visited on New Year’s Day to drop off a Christmas gift was cooking up turnip green soup with sausage. I wasn’t sure about that but got a “taste” report and photo later in the day that sounded and looked promising. Her skeptic approved.

People approach a new year in different ways. Some make resolutions, but I no longer subscribe to that. I decided years ago to adopt a “word” for the year. This has worked well for me. Wanna know what my word is for 2026? I’ll tell you at the end of this blog!

I came across a devotion in my files (www.allworship.com) that I thought you would enjoy. I added Scripture to each prediction. These predictions encouraged me as I step headfirst into this new year with vim and vigor. Who couldn’t use some encouragement as we see and hear about the problems of this world? It can sometimes feel defeating.

These are the top ten predictions for 2026 (and every year thereafter) that are sure to come true:

1. The Bible will still have all the answers.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

      2. The Holy Spirit will still move.

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you” (John 14:26).

      3. Prayer will still be the most powerful thing on earth.

      My comment: Yeah, it will!

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” (James 5:16).

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” (Jeremiah 33:3).

      4. God will still honor the praises of His people.

“Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise – the fruit of lips that openly profess his name” (Hebrews 13:15).

      5. There will still be God-anointed preaching.

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me because he has anointed Me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim freedom to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” (Luke 4:18).

      6. There will still be singing of praise to God.

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6).

      7. God will still pour out blessings upon His people.

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work” (2 Corinthians 9:8).

      8. There will still be room at the cross.

“Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us” (Hebrews 9:12).

      9. Jesus will still love you.

My comment: There is nothing you can do to separate you from the love of Jesus. Nothing!

“This is how God showed his love among us:  He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him” (1 John 4:9).

      10. Jesus will still save the lost when they come to Him.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).

“The Word of the Lord endures forever” (1 Peter 1:25).

        A New Year

What better time and what better season,

What greater occasion or more wonderful reason,

To kneel down in prayer and lift our hands high,

To the God of creation Who made land and sky.

And oh, what a privilege as the New Year begins

To ask God to wipe out our errors and sins,

And to know when we ask . . . if we are sincere,

He will wipe our slate clean as we start a new year.

So at this glad season when joy’s everywhere,

Let us meet our Redeemer at the altar of prayer.

My word for 2026 is “specificity.” I wish to be more specific in my prayers.

My word for 2026 is ENCOURAGE I borrowed this from someone I saw on Facebook and I asked her if she would share the word with me and she gladly said Yes. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this one on my own since one of my favorite people in the BIBLE is Barnabas
